10 Bonus Coaching Tips for a Sucessful Football Season :

1. Have a parents meeting before your first practice to let them know what is expected of them and players.
2. Appoint a “Team Parent” that can coordinate with the other parents and players.
3. List the equipment that is needed for the players.
4. Have players bring their own (named) water bottle.
5. Buy a trophy before the first practice and call it the “10th Player Award” (or 12th depending on sport). Give trophy at the end of the season to the player with the most spirit and who helps the coaches with the equipment. (It has nothing to do with a players ability).
6. To get players to practice on time, give them numbers as they arrive and this is the order they will go in drills which players like the most. Also, run their most enjoyable drill at the beginning of practice.
7. Try to put out a team newsletter every 3 or 4 weeks. Mention each player at least once during the year. (Team parent can do this)
8. Set up a phone chain to communicate change of times for practices, rain outs etc.
9. End every practice with something the kids like.
10. Have a team picnic and/or party and the coach should say something about each kid.
