Essential Keys to Better Bowling
|
Details >>
During the past 10 to 15 years, bowling instruction has become increasingly important. League bowling, previously beaconed by five-bowler teams, has lost its attractiveness. The game has become an individual sport. With league play sagging, greater emphasis has been centered on a bowler's individual ability. This is the perfect program to give you the bowling tips needed to improve you scores.
Instruction by Fred Borden: Fred Borden has devoted a lifetime to helping bowlers as an instructor of top professionals and amateurs and as head coach of the TEAM USA program. He joined the TEAM USA program in 1989, helping develop the training the team receives each year. He also developed USA Bowling's coaching certification program. The Team USA head coach's efforts earned him induction into the American Bowling Congress Hall of Fame in 2002. Borden led Team USA to great success in 2003, as the squad captured 64 medals in international competition.
He started coaching youth bowlers in 1962 at age 21. He later ran free learn-to-bowl classes for women, men and youth and free one-on-one lessons to anyone showing an interest. Borden later helped such stars as George Pappas, Larry Laub, Barry Asher, Paul Colwell, Johnny Petraglia, Mark Williams, Mike Durbin, Chris Barnes and John Mazza. His influence later spread to the women pros and to bowlers worldwide.
Borden has written nine books, developed various videos as well as written instructional articles for several publications. He is respected as one of the sport's best motivational speakers and credited with inventing the shoulder bowling bag and "Lunar Bowling," the predecessor to today's glow bowling.
Instruction by Ken Yokobosky: With more than 20 years' experience in various areas of bowling, Ken still maintains the enthusiasm of a youngster starting out. He still averages better than 220 and cashes regularly in regional, pro and other tournaments. Yokobosky has stayed in bowling as a coach, pro shop owner, equipment representative and tournament and promotional expert. As a coach, he has reached the high point as head of Team USA and received national and international acclaim. He will soon be off to Denmark to instruct the USA women's team.
